Selfish Promotion: FiLife Article

Share

With all this “selfless promotion” through the Yakezie Challenge, haven’t had the time to promote much of my own works!

A while back my first contribution to FiLife was posted, entitled: “Ignore Social Norms and Save More”.

Of course, I can’t delve too much from the challenge of promoting others.

PF Ninja wrote a very similar topic and provided some GREAT graphics in his post, “Lifestyle Inflation: Why your savings is not growing as fast as your income”.

      @ Forest.

No worries, had been thinking along the same lines actually.

The ultimate goal is to grow/develop as a writer and the group provides the outlet for that. If the focus shifts too much towards regurgitating each other’s work, than who will write the articles?

Then the next question is are we recirculating good content or just going through the motions?

Trying to strike a balance myself, I’ve already noticed a gravitation towards certain sites. Need to work more on expanding my base.

Instead of doing roundups now here is what I do…. I write a post, not thinking about Yakezie. Then I go to the Yakezie feed in Google Reader and I search for keywords based on the topic of my post. If I can find a few articles related to my topic (new or old) then I link them, seems to be working out quite well.

I have this plugin done now, just ironing out issues, so I can get back to other Yakezie duties and more writing on my blog.

          @ Forest.

Like the strategy. The benefit being you cater other people’s work towards you’re already existing pieces. Trying to develop new content for them and you can be daunty.

Agreed :), it’s working out great… I am off for 10 days now though and a bit worried Yakezie will think I am slacking :). I better put a message on the group!

    Fin Engr,

Just read the article. I like it a lot. I feel the same way and you explained it well. I would love it my Doctor rolled up in a beater, I’d know that he would give me the best treatment and not be influenced by the drug makers to push product on me.

      @ Jeff.

Ha – drug commercials are VERY persuasive. I don’t know what the disease is, but those people are having an awesome time, so I want it… :)

    Fin Engr!

I really enjoyed your article. Reminds me Warren Buffet’s internal locus of control.

    Thanks for the shout out!

      @ FS.

Sure thing. I’ll send you an email outlining a few details early this week. Wasn’t aware of the blogger bracket myself.
