Subscriptions are one of the best ways for companies to make money in the 21st century, and sadly, many of us fall into this trap. Sure, there are several subscriptions that add value to our daily lives, but there are also some that we may sign up for and completely forget about, and over time, we end up paying hundreds of dollars for something we didn’t even use. Instead of wasting money on duplicate or unused subscriptions, we could use this money to bolster up savings or emergency funds.
3. Homes That Don’t Serve Our Lifestyles
Over the last few decades, homes have continued to grow in size. Nowadays, homes are almost triple the size they used to be half a century ago. Large homes usually include additional discrete spaces, office areas, and sometimes even private entertainment or gym spaces. Considering that the average family size has shrunk since the 1960s, is it really necessary for us to live in overly big homes? Not only do they cost a fortune to buy, but the maintenance costs that go into these large homes are also such a waste.
4. Hot and Expensive Items
There are so many “hot” and expensive things that consumers buy on a whim nowadays, and they may include anything from designer beach towels to diamond-encrusted laptops or mobile phone cases. These dumb purchases are not worth it in the end, and they just end up wasting our money.
5. Shoes (In Large Quantities)
It’s possible to get by with a pair of exercise sneakers, two pairs of casual shoes, a more formal pair, and perhaps one or two other pairs of footwear for special activities (such as sandals or hiking shoes). We need shoes, yes, but we don’t need 50 pairs to get by in life.
6. Free Shipping Schemes
There’s nothing wrong with filling your Amazon cart to the point where you get free shipping, but this could be one of the dumbest ways to spend money on things that you don’t need and may never use.
