There are so many books that are released every week that it can be challenging to weed through them all and find the ones that will be the most meaningful. Every year, J.P. Morgan creates a summer reading list of the best books to read during your summer downtime. According to J.P. Morgan, these are your best bets this summer.

 

1. Supercommunicators

Communication is the key to relationships, but many people don’t do it as well as they could. This book is all about expanding your communication skills for better connections to others. The book is by Charles Duhigg.

2. The Anxious Generation

This book by Jonathan Haidt is all about the enormous numbers of teenagers who are suffering from mental illness. The book outlines how modern life is leading to this epidemic in young people.

3. Giants: Art From the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys

This collection of amazing art pieces from private collections was put together by Phaidon. It’s a look at artworks by African and Black American artists and encompasses a wide selection of pieces.

4. Brave New Worlds: How AI Will Revolutionize Education (And Why That’s a Good Thing)

Salman Khan wrote this look at how learning is changing both at work and at school. The book says that AI won’t replace interactions with humans but will enhance them through helpful tools that will help with problem-solving.

5. Love and Whiskey: The Remarkable True Story of Jack Daniel, His Master Distiller Nearest Green, and the Improbable Rise of Uncle Nearest

In Lynchburg, Tenn., in the 19th century, a remarkable story played out that changed the spirit industry. Nearest Green was an African American distiller who had an enormous impact on Jack Daniel’s whiskey. The book is by Fawn Weaver.

6. The Formula: How Rogues, Geniuses, and Speed Freaks Reengineered F1 Into the World’s Fastest-Growing Sport

Jonathan Clegg and Joshua Robinson have created a thorough look at how F1 has grown so much and gained fans from around the world. While it seems like it suddenly happened, it was actually many years of hard work that made it happen.

7. Secret Stays: Pioneering Hosts of the New Chic

This book by Tabitha Joyce, Issy von Simson, and Melinda Stevens is about almost two dozen places to stay that are far off the beaten path. It’s a look at hidden spots that could make for extraordinary travel.

8. Finding Fortunado: How a Peruvian Adventure Inspired the Sweet Success of a Family Chocolate Business

In a jungle in northern Peru, a family found a white cacao bean that had been believed to be extinct. This set in motion a company that created some of the world’s best chocolate. The book is by Adam Pearson.

9. Uptime: A Practical Guide to Personal Productivity and Wellbeing

Author Laura Mae Martin is Google’s executive productivity expert. She explains how to get more out of your day and accomplish more with better efficiency.

10. The Secret Society of Aunts & Uncles

This is a heartwarming picture book written by actor Jake Gyllenhaal and Greta Caruso. It’s a look at kids’ special relationships with their aunts and uncles and the adventures these can bring.

11. The Worth of Water: Our Story of Chasing Solutions to the World’s Greatest Challenge

This book by Matt Damon and Gary White is about the global water crisis and the solutions that are being developed. Collective action is needed to solve this problem for the good of everyone.
