15 Ways Poor People Can Look Exactly Like a Rich Person

Published:

When you’re around rich people, you may want to feel more like one of them. You want to be seen to be on the same footing.

Whether you’re attending an event or you have a well-heeled friend, there are ways that you can make wealthy people accept you as one of their own.

Never Mention Money

You probably have very little if you’re bragging about how much you have. Wealthy people don’t see talking about money as being polite. Don’t talk about what you own or brag about your income.

Avoid Being Loud

Rich people don’t show a lot of emotion in public, and they’re never loud. If you don’t have to yell, then don’t. Yelling and getting worked up in public is a dead giveaway that you’re lower class or lower middle class.

Keep Your Makeup Simple

The makeup you wear should be flattering to your face but simple and refined. Use a neutral lipstick color and a neutral shade for your eyes. Avoid sparkles and anything that looks cheap. Keep any nail polish neutral as well.

Keep Your Clothing Neutral

Rich people don’t follow the fads. They wear neutral colors so that the items in their wardrobe go well with each other. This also makes it easy to match accessories to the outfit. Bright colors scream working class.

Don’t Wear Too Much Jewelry

Each piece of jewelry that you wear should be of good quality. If you normally wear three cheap necklaces, ditch them for one nicer one. Don’t wear more than one ring on each hand.

Avoid Brand Logos

Wealthy people generally don’t want to show off their wealth. They invest in quality items, and they don’t flash fancy logos. Choose items that will last a long time and aren’t flashy.

Wear Fitted Clothing

The pieces should be of decent quality, but they also need to fit well. Poorly fitting clothing is a dead giveaway that someone has little money. Shop carefully for pieces that fit well, and visit a tailor for minor adjustments that will help the fit.

Keep a Simple Bag

Whether it’s a man’s bag or a purse, it should be simple in style, not covered in logos, and of good quality. Many mid-range brands offer high-quality leather that will last you a long time.

Learn Something About Wine

You don’t have to be a wine expert by any means, but you do need to know a little something about wine. This will help you choose the right one to go with your meal. Read up on wine selections and the basic types of wine.

Have Good Manners While Eating

It isn’t necessary to take a class on manners surrounding meals. However, watching a few videos wouldn’t hurt. There are a lot of little things you can do at the table to make it known that you’re cultured.

Invest in Good Quality Shoes

You don’t need the $1,500 shoes, but a higher-end shoe with a simple style. Many people will judge you for your shoes, and investing in a better pair will pay off for a long time.

Cover Up Your Tattoos

Most rich people get tattoos only in areas that don’t show when they’re in public if they get one at all. If you can cover up your tattoos while you’re trying to pass for rich, do so.

Have Good Posture and Confidence

When you walk into a room slumped over and looking nervous, you’ll stand out in a bad way. Wealthy people carry themselves with good posture and exude confidence no matter where they are.

Give a Firm Handshake

A limp handshake is seen as a little shady and weak. When you meet something, make full eye contact with them and give them a firm handshake every time.
