There’s no easier way to save money on energy expenses than unplugging your electronics when you aren’t using them. But you could take it even further and unplug kitchen appliances, too; the only hard part is remembering to do it.

Cut Your Hair

This tip is especially good if you have a low-maintenance hairstyle. Sometimes all you need is a good pair of clippers and some patience. It might not be perfect the first few times, but a hallmark of hair? It always grows back.

Hold Back on Flushes

Alright, so this tip won’t be for everyone, but honestly, it’s handy if you’re tired of paying excessive water bills. You’ve heard of the phrase “if it’s yellow let it mellow,” probably? We’ll leave it there and just say that this approach can save some long-term money.

Shower Less

Again, if this isn’t for you, then by all means, stick with those long showers. But if you’re serious about saving cash, skipping a shower here and there can add up.

Eat Before You Grocery Shop

We’re back with more reasonable tips; eating before you grocery shop will help you stave off impulse purchases induced by hunger and make it easier to stick to your grocery list.

Ask for Condiments

When grabbing a bite out to eat and they ask if you want ketchup packets, always say yes. It’s a free way to keep your fridge stocked with single-use condiments of all sorts, saving you cash and a trip to the grocery store.

Potty Train Your Cat

We did warn you these were going to be odd, right? Truthfully, potty training your cat isn’t nearly as hard as you think (depending on the cat’s personality) and could save you a fortune on litter throughout the years.

Embrace Ramen Noodles

You don’t have to be a broke college kid to love a good ol’ package of ramen noodles. And even though they aren’t the healthiest thing, you can always soup them with frozen veggies or even a fried egg to make them healthier but still cheap.

Hide Your Credit Cards on Yourself

Struggling with your credit card spending? Don’t allow yourself to access them. Have a friend or family member hide them for you in your home. If you need them, you’ll have to scour your place before making a purchase. And by the time you find it, you might realize you didn’t need it in the first place.

Find Beauty in Fake Foliage

Fresh flowers are fantastic, but who can afford to always have them around? Get all the benefits and none of the drawbacks by putting fake flowers all around your house. Some frugal aficionados even plant fake flowers, and we say, why not? A garden you never have to water sounds kinda nice!
