Other generations may not always agree with Boomer logic, and that has made for a larger cultural gap between Boomers and everyone else.
Millennials Are Killing Various Industries
Boomers have long been accusing Millennials of killing various industries from breakfast cereals to napkins to diamonds. However, these are simply industries that haven’t made a big impact on the generations beyond Boomers.
Younger People Should Be Further Along
Boomers often look at where a younger person is today and comment that they were much further along at that age. Of course, the economics of the 60s and 70s were far different from today.
Everyone Can Get a Scholarship
Well, no. That’s just not the case anymore. Scholarships used to be plentiful if you had decent grades, but today’s scholarships require great grades, very high test scores, and often more.
Always Apply for a Job in Person
This old-fashioned advice makes sense to Boomers but not to anyone else. Most jobs want you to apply online. If you don’t, you’re immediately seen as someone who can’t follow directions.

If checks were good enough in the 80s and 90s, they’re good enough to keep using today. Of course, in reality. virtually any other method of payment is faster and more convenient.

It’s common to hear Boomers talk about how they grew up without seatbelts and bike helmets and turned out just fine. Sure you did, but the ones who didn’t aren’t here to talk about it.
I Bought a House Young, Why Can’t You?
Plenty of Boomers were homeowners in their early 20s because of the low housing prices and relatively high wages. Buying a house is completely out of the question for many people today, even when they work hard at a good job.
Stick With One Company
Boomers had a high degree of job security and often stayed with the same company for decades. They often suggest that today’s workers do this, but it pays off today to switch jobs every few years.
