7 Ways To Adopt A Minimalist Lifestyle While Retaining Your Unique Style

Most of the time, when we think of minimalism, we think of clean, simple, and all-neutral-toned homes, but there’s so much more to that than this. Sure, simplicity is one of the cornerstones of minimalism, although if you’d like to embrace minimalism in your home, then it does not have to mean that you have to give up your own personal style.

1. Keep What You Love

When you go on a decluttering mission, which we all should do at least once a year to maintain a minimalist home, be sure to only keep things that you truly love. Get rid of anything that no longer adds joy or purpose to your life.

2. Stop Consuming

If you want to progress with your minimalist lifestyle goals, you must stop buying material things you don’t need. In today’s hyper-consumerist society and the world we live in, it’s easy to give in to this, but it doesn’t marry well with minimalism. Slowing your overall spending towards things that are not needed is the first step to achieving a minimalist lifestyle.

3. Focus on Different Textures

Minimalism entails less is more, so you will want to make sure that the things you do have add interesting flairs to your interior spaces. You can add engaging effects by layering differing textures without overwhelming it with too many things. After all, you still want to add cozy touches to your interior spaces without having too much clutter, and the best way to achieve this is to throw different textures together.

4. Buy Secondhand

The nice thing about buying second-hand goods is that you can find quality goods at great prices with their own characters and uniqueness that can be added to your distinctive style.

5. Select a Focal Color

With minimalism, you don’t want too many strong colors in one space as it may defeat the whole point of this way of life, although you can still have a focal color here and there in the different rooms in your home. Besides, pops of color make rooms feel more lively and cozy, but be sure to only go with one strong color per room and have the other colors be more neutral.

6. Set Limits

When it comes to redoing a room or home and spending on decor items, be sure to set limits for yourself. By setting limits, you will ensure that you never go too overboard with spending. This will hopefully, in turn, help you to maintain a minimalist lifestyle by preventing you from buying too many things that may cause clutter down the line.

7. Build a Cleaning Routine
