8 Luxury Items Both Rich People and Frugal People Will Never Buy

Published:

Most of the time, we ordinary folk assume that rich people buy whatever their hearts desire. But this isn’t entirely true, as there are, in fact, certain things that rich people will never waste their money on.

Even rich people know that these things are just not worth the money and are too luxurious even for them.

Here’s a list of some of the things that most wealthy people will never buy into.

Mega Yachts

Yes, mega yachts are synonymous with luxury and wealth, but not every rich person wants a piece of this pie. The docking, maintenance, and crew fees are astronomical, to begin with, and if they wanted a yacht, they would probably opt for a smaller one. Or better yet, rent one for the few occasions that they do decide to spend time at sea.

Excessive Jewelry

Top-notch jewelry is unquestionably popular for the rich, but of course, there are boundaries when it comes to how many pieces one needs. For the rich, overly expensive, or exceptionally elaborate, jewelry pieces that don’t offer any versatility are rarely something that they would buy into. Affluent folks usually prefer to go for timeless and versatile jewelry items that can be donned on different occasions.

Extravagant Gifts

It may be tempting to buy someone an over-the-top gift, but wealthy individuals prefer to opt for more meaningful gifts. After all, it’s the thought that counts.

High-End Cars

Instead of buying luxury vehicles or flashy sports cars, most wealthy folks opt for practical vehicles that are reliable and render good gas mileage. Even rich people know that at the end of the day, it’s more important that your car is going to get you from point A to point B rather than how you will look whilst driving it.

Impulse Buys

Have you ever purchased something impulsively, only to later realize that you didn’t need it? Wealthy people try to avoid such habits altogether. They know that any purchase outside of their basic needs requires planning if overall financial success is to be achieved.

High End Branded Clothing

Just as it may be pointless to spend exuberant amounts of money on luxury cars, the same goes for high-end clothes. Instead of splurging too much money on designer brands that cost a fortune, rich people prefer to opt for high-quality, understated garments that are going to serve them for an extended period.

Overpriced Homes

Investing in a home that’s above one’s budget is not something that wealthy individuals do. They also don’t go for overly large mansions that have high up-keep fees. They know that it’s only going to cost them a lot of money when the time comes to renovate or update interiors, so instead, they stick to homes that are easy to maintain and well within their means.

High-End Collectibles

It’s easy to assume that the wealthy may buy into collectibles that hold historical significance, but actually, this is not the case at all. Instead, the wealthy usually prioritize spending their money on investments that appreciate over time. Even though high-end collectibles may be pricey and may seem like a sound purchase, they typically don’t meet this criterion of value appreciation over time.
