Sure, most people engage in online shopping these days. There are so many benefits to doing so that many people don’t shop in person. But in some states, online shopping is an obsession.

The number of people aged 15 and above who shop online is very high in those states. These are the top states obsessed with that online shopping rush.

Colorado

According to qrfy.com, this mountain state has the highest number of its residents shopping online. About 84.8% of the state’s population shops online. Perhaps they don’t want to go out in the cold and snow to shop.

Oregon

Oregon is a close second to Colorado, with 82.4% of its people shopping online. This translates to 2.6 million. In this state, shopping malls are largely getting redeveloped into other properties, perhaps pushing more people to shop online.

Utah

In Utah, most areas are highly spread out, and it might take some time to get to a store. That may be why 81.6% of the state’s residents, 1.7 million people, use their internet access to shop online.

New Hampshire

This small state has 773,000 people shopping online, about 81.5% of its population. The state does have a large mall, however, that allows people to shop at 150 stores tax-free.

Wisconsin

This large state is mostly rural, and that can make in-person shopping more complicated. About 81.4% of the state’s population shops online. This is about 3.6 million residents.

Washington

Washington has a lot of population centers, but it’s also largely rural. In this state, 80.9% of the population spends some of its time shopping online. Perhaps this lets them avoid the rain?

Maryland

Three million people in Maryland shop online, representing 79.8% of the population. The state does have a lot of in-person shopping opportunities, though, including a 225-store shopping center.

Delaware

This diminutive state has 500,000 people shopping online. This is about 79.7% of its residents. Delaware does have a large mall with 179 stores, but it’s just easier to shop online, isn’t it?

Montana

Montana ties with Delaware, with 79.7% of its residents going online to shop. In Montana, this represents 622,000 people. The wide-open spaces in Montana may contribute to the preference for shopping online.

Idaho

About 79.4% of the residents of Idaho shop online. This is a full one million people who love the benefits of shopping online. It’s convenient and easy to do, and there’s an enormous selection available online.

Massachusetts

This New England state is tied with Idaho, with 79.4% of its population shopping online. The national average of all the states is about 74.1% of the population engaging in online shopping.

Vermont

In this maple-loving state, 79.3% of its residents shop online. That’s about 366,000 people in this small state. It doesn’t have much in the way of large shopping centers, and this may be one reason its shopping has largely moved online.
