When a good idea hits you, stop and write it down so you don’t forget it later. Alternatively, you can send yourself a text.

Keep Digital Lists

Whether it’s a to-do list, a grocery list, or another type, it’s good to keep a digital record of them. That way, there’s no losing them, and it’s easy to add to them. If your phone doesn’t have a notes app, you can download one for free.

Be Careful With Opinions

You don’t have to have an opinion on everything. Even if you do, you don’t always have to share it. Learn when the right time to share opinions is and how to do it without being offensive.

Dry-erase markers work on a lot of different surfaces and are easy to clean up. An example is teachers letting students use them on some desks instead of using scrap paper. Another is parents leaving notes for their children on mirrors.

Learn to Cook and Clean

You might be amazed at how many people can’t cook much without a microwave. Cooking and cleaning up after yourself can save a lot of money, and it’s also something to teach kids well before their teens.

Eat Leftovers

Every year, Americans pour billions of dollars worth of food down the drain or dump it in a trash can. It’s one of the most incredibly wasteful things people do, and it’s even more amazing at this time when so many people are unhappy about high grocery prices.

When a candle burns down and you need to get the remaining wax out, you can freeze it, and then it will break up easily. You can also use boiling water for this, though some might consider that wasteful of water and energy.

Lemon Juice With Scrambled Eggs

Before you cook your scrambled eggs, add about a teaspoon of lemon juice for every two eggs and mix it in. This helps them come out really smooth when they’re finished cooking.

Stickers can be such a pain to remove. Water can help, but sometimes water can damage whatever the sticker is on. Instead, you can use a hair dryer to get the sticker to loosen its grip a bit.

Have a Plunger Before You Need It

A plunger does you no good if you don’t have one. If you have a clogged toilet and no plunger, you’ve now made a bad situation worse because now you have to make a trip just for that, during which the toilet will be unusable.

Speeding Doesn’t Save That Much Time

Many studies have shown that speeding saves just a few seconds per mile at best. The only place it makes a real difference is in situations where there are few or no stop lights or stop signs, like interstate highways and some neighborhood loops. And in that second example, speeding is a terrible idea.

Laundry Bags for Washing Socks

How many times have you lost a sock to that mysterious place they go to from dryers? Or maybe a sock got inside another clothing item and it took you a long time to find. Using a laundry bag when you wash them takes care of that.

Speaking of missing socks, if you only buy one color of socks, you can always have a match if you lose one. That might not be very exciting, but how much time do people spend looking at other people’s socks?

Give Grace to Annoying Drivers

If someone cuts you off or is zipping in and out of traffic, resist the urge to label the person a cretin and wish for divine justice to visit them. Instead, tell yourself that maybe there’s a medical emergency, that they really, really need to get to a bathroom, or something else like that.

Cut off Toxic People

Cutting off other drivers is bad, but cutting off toxic people isn’t. This can be hard to do, but it will make you so much happier in the end. Toxic people are a drain on everyone around them and make people miserable.
