We all admire a green and lush garden during summer. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the weather and spend time with your loved ones. However, maintaining a beautiful garden during this season isn’t always easy due to the excessive heat and prolonged dry weather.

With the proper techniques, you can still create a vibrant garden.

Here are five secrets to growing a beautiful garden this summer.

1. Find Varieties of Plants That Can Withstand the Summer Heat

Knowing what to plant and when can help your plants withstand the intense summer heat. The best time to start planting summer-friendly varieties is from late March to the end of April. You must also find plants and flowers that can withstand the summer heat, like coneflowers, lavender, salvia, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, eggplant, beans, and tomatoes.

Find a variety of plants with different textures, colors, and bloom periods. Consider the maintenance requirements of each plant. Some require more water, others regular pruning, and a few need specific soil conditions. Understanding your soil type will help you choose the right plants and create an environment for optimal growth.

2. Add a Touch of Elegance With the Right Plant Positioning

Understanding how to position your plants will help with the beauty and functionality of your garden. Create focal points in your garden to draw attention to your lush garden. Incorporate different heights, colors, and textures to create a uniform look.

Planning your plant’s placement in your garden creates a visually appealing look and makes the space more inviting. Add colorful pots or planters to make a statement.

3. Apply a Layer of Mulch and Provide Shade

Applying a layer of mulch keeps the soil moisture in and prevents weed formation. Some store-bought mulch also insulate your plants from temperature fluctuations, protecting them from high heat. Pine straw, hardwood chips, and grass clippings can be used as mulch.

Don’t forget to provide a temporary shade. You can use old sheets, umbrellas, or fine netting to create a shade for your garden.

4. Implement the Right Watering Techniques

Proper watering is essential for the growth and survival of your plants during summer.  Unfortunately, most people overwater, often leading to root rot and other water-related problems.

Checking the moisture levels before watering can help you prevent overwatering. Experts recommend watering deep at least once per week. Use organic mulches and composts to preserve the garden’s moisture.

5. Avoid Pruning During Summer

Although pruning is a fantastic way to maintain a healthy garden, it’s not always the best option during summer. Pruning at this time can expose the healthy parts of your plants to the high heat, which can damage them. It’s best to prune early spring to remove damaged or diseased stems or plant parts.

Growing a beautiful garden doesn’t have to be complicated. Implementing the above tips will help you develop a lush garden to survive the summer heat. Monitor your garden regularly for signs of nutrient deficiency, diseases, or pests.

One could say that bathrooms are equal parts utility and sanctuary. Essentially, they’re the place where you can light a candle and wind down from a long day, but at the same time, it’s the exact spot where most of your grooming and getting ready for your day (or bed) happens. In terms of aesthetics, we do want our bathrooms to feel welcoming and serene, but, at the same time, they need to be functional.
