Spring has almost arrived (for most of us), and that means that it’s that time of year again when we should at least try to take the time to rejuvenate our homes. The main point of spring cleaning is to allow us to declutter so that we can deep clean and essentially refresh our living spaces to the best of our abilities.

If that sounds like something you’d like to do, then read on, as we have listed some of the basics to get started with spring cleaning.

Start with a Plan

Before throwing yourself into the deep end of spring cleaning, it would be a good idea to first create a rough plan. This is crucial so that you can prioritize and tackle the things in your home that need the most attention, and it also breaks your spring cleaning missions into smaller and more manageable tasks.

You will also feel a lot less overwhelmed if you can manage to tick off the items on your list as you go along.

Decluttering is probably the best way to start spring cleaning. When your home is decluttered, it will be a lot easier to get down to cleaning and organizing. Decluttering begins with going through each room in your home and sorting things that you no longer need into different categories, such as sell, donate, or trash.

It helps to be strict or ruthless here; for example, if you haven’t used something in the last year or more, it’s probably time to part ways.

Gather and Sort Cleaning Supplies

If you want to undertake your cleaning smoothly, then it would help a lot to sort cleaning supplies and arrange your cleaning devices. It’s also a good idea to keep things in a place that is easy to access to save you time and effort when you need to use them.

One Room at a Time

Focusing on one room at a time will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed. When you can finish one room and move on to the next, it’ll also give you a great sense of accomplishment.

When cleaning any area, it’s also always best to start at the top and work your way down to avoid recleaning the bottom areas, as the debris from the top falls to lower areas.

Don’t Forget Behind and Underneath Your Appliances and Furniture

It doesn’t take long for dirt, dust, and debris to accumulate in the zones behind or underneath furniture and appliances. To clean these areas, it would be best to move the furniture away from the walls to access these zones easily.

Don’t Forget Outdoor Areas

Since we are approaching warmer weather, it means that we will soon be spending a lot more of our time outside. It’s, therefore, essential not to forget about these areas in your spring cleaning missions.

You can start by removing any plant debris that accumulated over the winter and trimming your overgrown plants so that they can thrive in the summer months.

We hope you enjoy spring cleaning this year and that you’ll get all the therapeutic benefits out of it as you should.

One could say that bathrooms are equal parts utility and sanctuary. Essentially, they’re the place where you can light a candle and wind down from a long day, but at the same time, it’s the exact spot where most of your grooming and getting ready for your day (or bed) happens. In terms of aesthetics, we do want our bathrooms to feel welcoming and serene, but, at the same time, they need to be functional.
