16 States That Are Obsessed With the Magical World of Harry Potter

For people who love fantasy stories, the Harry Potter series of books and movies are up there. They represent many of the aspects of fantasy and imagination that are so appealing to viewers and readers. The series is about a young wizard who attends a school of magic.

It’s more popular in some states than in others, though people in many states rate it highly. According to Summary Guru, these are the states that love Harry Potter the most based on the search volume of those from various states.

Utah

Utah loves the boy wizard the most. Residents of the state get a 100 out of 100 for the Google search volume for the series. One man from this state even built a castle based on the series in his front yard. The series is by far the most popular here.

Idaho

Trailing far behind Utah is Idaho. It gets a 79 for its search volume for the series. Harry Potter is celebrated during the Harry Potter Experience event held there every year where people cosplay as characters and enjoy butterbeer.

Kentucky

Kentucky’s search volume for Harry Potter gets a 72. The state has a popular Airbnb that is Harry Potter-themed. There’s even a themed coffee shop where patrons can order drinks that would fit right into the series.

West Virginia

With a 71 for its search volume, West Virginians are crazy about all things Potter. One town has a Wizard Weekend every year that features games, activities, and anything Potter-themed.

Wyoming

There isn’t a whole lot to do in Wyoming with its small towns and low population. People want to let their imaginations go by delving into the world of Harry Potter. The state gets a 70 for its search volume.

Washington

People in Washington love this fantasy tale and all of its iterations. They do enough searching for the young wizard to earn a rating of 69. Washingtonians certainly value imagination.

Colorado, Missouri, Maine, Oklahoma

All four of these states are tied with a score of 67. They each value the story and its ensuring friendships. People in all of these states are looking up Harry Potter to revisit and get more of the story.

Ohio, Michigan, Arkansas, Alaska

These states may seem like they have very little in common, but they do. They’re all mad about the Harry Potter saga. Maybe it’s the changing stairs or the town of Hogsmeade that interests them in this ensuring story. They all score a 66.

Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Oregon

Another eclectic mixture of states, these all score a 65. The love of Harry Potter spans across the country and encompasses many regional cultures. From coast to coast, everyone seems to be looking for more about Harry Potter.

Can Harry Potter be a force that brings people together? Judging by the many states that score highly on this list, it seems possible. These three states each earn a 63 for search volume.

Texas, Nebraska, Connecticut, New Jersey

In these states, there are plenty of people who want to look up their favorite young wizard. They each get a score of 62. The magic of the franchise is highly important to many in these states.

From the Southeast to the Midwest, Harry Potter has permeated the cultures of many areas of the country. The books help kids read and are just as entertaining for adults. What other story can do this? These states get a 61.

Arizona, Wisconsin, New York

Representing very different regions, these states all score a 60. They each appreciate the story that has both gentleness and power and prominently features the power of love and friendship.
