Whenever you go abroad, you may be liable for any emergency medical care that you need. Even if the country has free health care for its residents, that doesn’t mean it has free healthcare for you. It’s important to get a health insurance policy for the duration of your trip just in case.

Health care in many countries can be extremely expensive, especially in countries with a high cost of living. According to StaySure, these are the most expensive places for hospital stays, and no, the United States isn’t in first place but it’s still on the list!

Monaco

It’s no wonder that Monaco is first with its reputation for being a home for millionaires. The city-state has the hospital beds you need- if you have $3,042 a day for each one. This doesn’t include the care given by the staff.

Luxembourg

A distant second to Monaco for its hospital prices, this tiny nation charges big for its hospital beds. Just to be in the hospital costs more than $1,900 per day per bed.

Norway has so many amazing sights to see, and you can’t see them for a hospital bed. If you do wind up being in the hospital, you can expect to pay more than $1,450 for the bed each day.
