According to Creditnews, these areas rank highly for several factors that affect the home-buying process for those who are getting into the market for the first time. With the right financial factors coming together, it’s easier to buy a home in these areas.

This metro area has the most affordable prices for starter homes. It has the lowest ratio of mortgage payment to income. It also allows buyers strong power in bargaining on prices.

These areas aren’t attractive locations for those looking to buy their first home. They tend to have high costs of living and very high home prices that make it all more difficult.

This metro area comes in dead last for its mortgage affordability. Its starter homes average almost $1 million. The area also doesn’t have good job growth or good market access to homes.

San Diego-Carlsbad, California

The average price of a home is more than $650,000, and the area ranks poorly for mortgage affordability. Buyers here don’t have a lot of access and have very little bargaining power.
