Once the Boomers are gone, a lot of other things from our society will also be gone. They’ve lived to see virtually every aspect of society go through drastic changes. It’s left them with a lot of things that won’t go on after they’re gone.
Some of them are things we’ll miss, but most aren’t things that anyone will be nostalgic for.
Covering Everything With Carpet

Whether it’s stunning tile or gleaming hardwood, Boomers have long been happy to put carpet over it. They’ve even been known to carpet bathrooms in their quest to cover the Earth with carpeting.
Yahoo as a Search Engine

Yahoo is popular in Asia, but in the U.S., it’s the Boomers who are keeping it going. While Yahoo News has some merit and Yahoo email is still hanging in there, you probably won’t hear of younger people using Yahoo to search.
AOL

Wait, AOL is still a thing? Yes! And it’s the Boomers keeping it alive. Many of them got AOL email many years ago and have kept it all this time. When they’re gone, expect AOL to fold.
China Cabinets Filled With Fancy China

Having a huge china cabinet was once an essential part of a dining room. Keeping large sets of china that had been in the family for years was a tradition. Younger people today don’t want to be bogged down with giant furniture and big collections of plates they never use.
Phone Books

Yes, they’re still made in some areas, though they’re generally just made up of business listings. Some Boomers have kept older ones to use. They find it to be easier than looking up a phone number on a website.
QVC

While younger people are buying things they see on TikTok, Boomers are tuning into QVC and launching money toward ornate sweaters and half-priced handbags. It’s the fast fashion equivalent for older people.
Old Sitcoms

When the Boomers are gone, will there be anyone around to watch reruns of Bewitched? What about Gidget? There are a lot of shows that may quietly fade away after the Boomers aren’t around.
Timeshares

Boomers were all about those timeshares, but other generations haven’t had the same enthusiasm for them. Younger people have seen the hassle they can be and how hard they are to get rid of.
Affordable Housing

The Boomers had a lot of advantages, including great economic conditions for most of their lives. Housing was highly affordable when they bought their houses, but those days have sailed.
Company Loyalty

Boomers often worked for the same company for a long time and were loyal to that employer. Job security is no longer a thing, and loyalty has been exchanged for changing jobs every couple of years to get ahead.
Owning Things Instead of Subscribing

While some Gen Xers are still clinging to owning physical items instead of subscribing to what they like, this is mostly a Boomer thing. They’re often unwilling to subscribe to things that used to be items people owned outright.
Wearing a Suit to Work

The number of people who wear suits to the office has declined so much that some suit companies have been in trouble lately. Workers don’t see the need for a suit, and many employers don’t either.
Physical Newspapers

There are still physical newspapers, but much of the clientele are Boomers. They’re so used to reading the physical newspaper that they don’t want to give up on that tactile experience.
Physical Checks

While many younger people don’t even have a checkbook anymore, Boomers are still writing checks to pay their bills. They see nothing wrong with it, and they’ll keep doing it as long as they can.
Cable TV

Boomers love watching cable. They’re less enthused about getting a bunch of streaming services to get the content they’re looking for. And with the price of streaming going up, who can blame them?
