Cleaning is tedious and time-consuming. However, professional cleaners have devised creative ways to make cleaning fast and efficient. From removing tough stains to getting rid of grime, plenty of cleaning hacks can change your approach to household chores.

Here are 15 clever cleaning hacks professionals don’t want you to know.

Vacuum Differently

While vacuuming may help remove dirt, you may be doing it wrongly and missing multiple spots. Moving the vacuum back and forth over the floor won’t get you the best cleaning results. Instead, vacuum the room horizontally before doing it vertically to eliminate all dirt.

Vacuum slowly to pick up all the dirt, use the proper attachment, and empty the bag regularly.

A Lint Roller Has Multiple Cleaning Uses

Your lint roller can do much more than removing pet hair or lint from your clothing. It can also remove built-up dust from suede boots, baseball caps, or sneakers. A lint roller can also help clean accumulated dust from your popcorn ceiling, pick up stubborn dirt from carpets, or pick dirt and hair from upholstered furniture.

Mattresses contain sweat, dead skin cells, and other hard-to-spot bacteria. To freshen your mattress, sprinkle it with baking soda and add a vinegar spray. Leave the mixture for at least an hour before vacuuming it up.

Your Dishwasher Can Do More Than Just Clean Dishes

Most people must realize they can use the dishwasher for other tasks besides cleaning their dishes. You can remove grime from your garden tools, wash baseball hats, sanitize your kids’ toys, and clean combs, hair, or makeup brushes.

Vinegar Works Like Magic in Your Bathrooms

Vinegar is a multipurpose cleaning agent that helps loosen mineral deposits, dissolve soap scum, and remove any foul smell. Mix equal parts of vinegar with water to clean the tiles, and use a soft cloth to scrub the tiles. Pouring some vinegar into the toilet bowl and allowing it to sit overnight before scrubbing it off leaves you with squeaky clean toilets.

Excess food residue can leave your microwave with a foul smell. Steam cleaning your microwave removes the residue and kills any bacteria, ensuring your microwave is safe. Simply fill a microwave-safe container or bowl with water and add some vinegar. Place it in the microwave and heat it for 3-5 minutes.

Use Rubber Gloves for Pet Hair

Rubber gloves remove pet hair from surfaces like rugs, clothing, and furniture. Simply wear the gloves and dampen them with water. Wipe the surface with gloves to ensure you cover the entire surface. Rinse the gloves with water to remove the pet hair collected and repeat the process.

Coffee filters are gentle and don’t leave lint behind, making them perfect for dusting surfaces like computer monitors and TV screens.

Getting rid of tough grout lines can be challenging. Most cleaners will fade the lines but only eliminate them partially. You can remove these tough stains by mixing baking soda with water to make a paste. Leave the paste on for a few minutes and rinse with clean water.

Shaving Cream Works Wonders on Bathroom Mirrors

Foggy bathroom mirrors are difficult to remove. Shaving cream is a surfactant that prevents water condensation particles from sticking to the mirrors. Apply the shaving cream to your bathroom mirrors and wipe with a soft cloth.

Clean Shower Curtains With Salt

Shower curtains tend to accumulate scum and mildew over time. Sprinkling salt over the shower curtain and scrubbing it before rinsing it off can remove the soap scum easily.

Stainless steel appliances are prone to smudges and stuck fingerprints that are difficult to remove with commercial cleaners. Adding olive oil to a clean microfiber cloth and polishing your appliances can help remove smudges and fingerprints.

Pouring nail polish on your carpet doesn’t have to be stressful. Try applying some rubbing alcohol or nail polish to the stain. If that doesn’t work, use a magic eraser to moisten the polish and get rid of it.

Magic erasers work on carpets and can remove stains on other non-delicate textiles and fabrics.

Remove Any Stuck on Gunk From Your Blender With Baking Soda

Using your blender severally can leave remnants on the blades, which are difficult to remove with only soap and water. Combining dish soap, baking soda, and warm water mixture and letting the blender run for a few seconds can remove any stuck-on gunk. After the wash, pass your blender through clean water to get it clean.

Disinfect Your Washing Machine With Bleach

Although you may use a detergent and water in your washing machine daily, it’s not enough to eliminate infectious bacteria and viruses. You can clean and disinfect your washing machine by running a mixture of half a cup of bleach and hot water. That gets rid of any bacteria and germs stuck inside.

Implementing these cleaning hacks can enhance your cleaning experience, allowing you to achieve a sparkling home with minimal effort.

One could say that bathrooms are equal parts utility and sanctuary. Essentially, they’re the place where you can light a candle and wind down from a long day, but at the same time, it’s the exact spot where most of your grooming and getting ready for your day (or bed) happens. In terms of aesthetics, we do want our bathrooms to feel welcoming and serene, but, at the same time, they need to be functional.
