Finishing high school is an important start to life as an adult. However, many people never finish high school. When people don’t finish high school, many job options are closed to them.

Some states have higher rates of high school failure than others. According to QR Code Generator, these are the states that have the right rates of high school failure for adults 25 and over.

California

The most populous state has almost 27 million residents who are 25 and over. Among that population, 15.32%, more than four million people, don’t have a high school diploma.

Texas

Texas has more than 19.5 million people who are 25 or over, and about 2.7 million of them never earned a high school diploma. That’s 13.89% of them that have this limitation.

Louisiana

Louisiana has about three million people who are 25 or older, and 12.70% of them don’t have a high school diploma. That’s almost 400,000 who didn’t pass high school in this state.

Nevada

Nevada has a high school failure rate of 12.58% of all of its population 25 and older. Out of about 2.2 million people, that’s almost 280,000 people, that never finished high school.

Mississippi

Mississippi has a relatively small population with about 1.9 million people who are 25 and older. Among those residents, 12.40%, or 243,000 people don’t have a high school diploma.

New York

New York has more than 12.8 million people 25 and up. About 12.10% of that population, adding up to more than 1.6 million people, didn’t finish their high school education.

New Mexico

New Mexico has a lot of problems, and the high school graduation rate is one of them. The state has about 1.4 million people ages 25 and older, and 11.99% of them never got their high school diploma.

Alabama

This Southern state has more than 3.47 million people 25 and over. About 389,000 of them, or 11.20% of the total, don’t have their high school qualification.

Kentucky

Kentucky has a problem with people not graduating high school. The state has more than three million people 25 and up, and 11% of them never graduated. That’s 340,000 of them.

West Virginia

Among the 1.26 million people in West Virginia who are at least 25, 10.86% of them don’t have a high school diploma. That equals more than 137,000 people without this achievement.
