When you sleep with a partner, there are a lot of things that you have to deal with to get a good night’s sleep. Some bedtime habits can keep a partner from sleeping, prompting many people to start using separate bedrooms.

For those who share a bedroom, many annoying behaviors can make people wish they had separate bedrooms. According to MattressNextDay, these are the most annoying sleeping habits that people report.

Snoring

This is the top annoying habit that is reported by those who sleep together. If you’ve been in the room with someone snoring, you know how difficult this can make everything, especially sleeping.

Hogging the Covers

If you sleep with a cover hog, you’re not alone. This is a common complaint that people have as they struggle to stay warm and cozy in bed. When covers are hogged, it can mean an uncomfortable night.

Sleep Talking

Sleep talking is a surprisingly common habit that many people do subconsciously. Sleep talkers are often talking about something in their dreams, and they often make no sense to their partners. However, it’s pretty tough to sleep when someone next to you is talking.

There’s nothing like trying to sleep while being blinded by a bright computer screen in the darkness. It’s even worse if the person has the sound on. Complaints about a partner using a phone at night are common today.

Some partners don’t go to sleep at the same time, and this can be jarring when they do come to bed. Ideally, both partners can go to bed at the same time and cuddle before sleep to release the relaxing hormone oxytocin.

No Showers at Bedtime

This may not be as common for couples as sleep talking or playing on a phone, but it’s a big deal for many couples. This can be a difficult behavior to handle, and it can mean a lot of being woken up in the middle of the night.

Couples often have different ideas about what the best temperature is for sleep. This usually results in a compromise where neither partner is happy with the temperature, and it can affect sleep.

Sometimes, a sleeping partner may get hungry late at night and raid the fridge. This comes with light and noise, and it can be disruptive to the other person’s sleep. And if they bring the food to bed, that comes with a big mess on top of the other problems.
